When you see "these words" - think "this"

How do you tell your students to prepare for the AP^® exam?  Sure you give them problem after problem and some they can do and some they can't.  You hope they learn from the explanations.  But how does a student know he or she is prepared for the exam? They know how to take derivatives and integrals but do they know when to take derivatives or integrals?

For a number of years, I have had a review sheet available on this website. For lack of a better term, I call it:  "When you see the words . You think ." 

The goal of this review is to see what gets triggered in the minds of students when they see certain words. For instance, in the example shown to the right, a procedure is asked to determine whether a particle is speeding up or slowing down. The procedure involves finding the velocity and acceleration. This assumes that students know how to take derivatives. So these types of questions more of "what to do" and less than "how to do it."

There are many options for you to have this set of questions. 

You can download for free a worksheet complete with student version and answer version both in AB and BC.  Each has two versions.  One has the questions in order of a typical AP^® calculus course and the other in a scrambled order.  They are free.

The other option is to have the screen version as you see in the example above. This is in PDF format with a question on odd numbered pages and the answer on the even pages. Having this available to you in a screen version allows you to have a review in class projected for all to see. Or you can use one of these questions each day as a warmup to the actual class.  There is an AB and BC version and with each, one in order of a typical calculus course and the other in a scrambled order.  The price of the screen version is only $14.95 and at that price, it is something you cannot afford not to have.
